If it's got the CVT, good luck...

If you're lucky enough to have a 4L60 (you know the CVT is bad when the 4L60 is considered good!) you'll be ok.

I don't think a longitudinal transmission will fit in the Vue. I think the 4T45 replaced the CVT on the 4 pots. :dunno:

I don't think any of the transmissions in it were ever worth a damn. The CVT was garbage, so bad that it caused GM to abandon CVTs, the 5 speed auto Aisin was a turd, and Honda's 5 speed isn't known for being reliable either.

My bad... I even looked at that when I was typing it and I still didn't fix it

If the V6 didn't come with the 4T60, then somebody spend a crap ton of work putting one in

All of the bashing aside... if it's working now it probably will be fine for a while anyway. You'll make money on the deal!

Funny how I just got done working on our pastors 07 Ford Freestyle and it has 100k on it and was looking up info on how to do the transmission fluid and filters. Turns out from what I read on the Freestyle forum that the CVT in it is a pretty tough and reliable transmission. Seems Ford got it right, to bad GM couldn't.

I was not aware Ford was using CVTs. Nissan has literally millions of CVTs running around and they are not a common failure item. With the coming EPA mileage requirements, I bet we see a ton more CVTs. Once people get over the need to have their trans "shift" gears, they will be ok with it.

I am not too worried. buddy of mine has a 05 Vue with 240k on the transmission. Though he is putting a new motor in it as of right now. Also with the ability to switch out the transmission myself... Yea...

It seems Fords CVT transmission is a pretty good one. The Freestyle has it and you have to change out the high pressure filter inside the transmission every 60k according to the owners manual. It also has a regular pan/screen filter as well. But from what I have read. As long as you change out that filter like you are supposed to the transmission is pretty bullet proof. The only suck factor is you have to use special fluid that you can only get at the dealer from what I have found out so far. AMSOIL does not make anything for it. :(

I haven't known anyone with a Freestyle I just figured Ford's CVT was junk too since it only hung around about 3 years. :dunno:
