OK guys on my brothers the 2004 HD 2500 truck the drivers door sags he took it to some body shop and they said that in oder to fix it correct they will need to do some welding to put the bushings and they also asked him if the door has ever swung open due to the wind blowing it wide open he said it probably has happened.

Also they said sometimes when that happens it pushes in where the hinges are attached to the body so I think there thinking that it bent in that area also they said it super hard replacing them.

Now guys is it hard to replace them and does it sound like they know what there doing? He took it in last week and they worked on the door he told them to replace the bushings but the door still has play. I know the stealership wanted to rape him to replace the bushing on that one door.
Thanks! Roland :dunno:

Well if the bushings are totally gone and it is wearing into the hinges. Then you may need to weld in the hole and redrill it out to the proper size. Or replace the whole entire hinge if it's really that bad.

Tyler I hear where your coiming from I will have to ask my brother to ask them again if that's what there thinking of doing. Anybody else do this on a 2004 HD truck?
Thanks! Roland
PS-I know that GM made the bushings of brass so the hinge wouldn't wear our that bad or the bushing would wear first on like a 75 Firebird I had and so on.

It's like $5 for the bushing itself outside the dealer... If a new bushing didn't fix anything, the hinges might be bend, you also may need to adjust the striker plate....

Without actually seeing the door and hinges it's hard to say.

That's what im thinking as well Sinned because they did ask him if the door have ever been open real hard by a strong gust of wind. I think my brother said that the hinges look different than my old 93 truck I was wondering if any member with a 2004 HD GMC 2500 truck can take a look at theirs just to see if it is different than the regular truck hinge.

Just talked with my brother he said that has to be the problem that the holes to where the bushing go in are worn out so that's why there going to weld on the holes to fill them in. You know he took it in and he paid for them to replace them well they did but one would think they would say the holes are worn out it still needs work but they didn't he also said it does have much less play well he having to rent a car again to get it fixed right.
Thanks! Roland

You can get oversized bushings for the hinges, you just have to drill the holes out to the proper size and make sure that they are centered for proper alignment.

Up-Date my big bro took his truck to still another shop what was wrong is they installed the wrong bushings his truck is a HD 2500 there much bigger. Just a heads up guys. Now if it was me I would raise hell and get some of my money back plus he had to rent a car for two days while they had his truck and they lied to him by saying they installed them wrong.

My bro is a very busy man he rather just not deal with that shop again. It's so hard to get work done correct and find people that give a hoot.
