I have been trying to buy this truck from my previous employer since last October. He still hasn't made the repairs and he offered to sell it to me again. Hopefully he will sign over the title when I give him the cash.

I did post this a while back on another forum...

I have driven this truck when I worked for this company for many years. I know it is well maintained and have a good relationship with the owner.

The truck in question is a 2004 PS F450 with the 6.0. It has 115k miles on it and needs a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and all 8 injectors and glow plugs. I think ford wants $7k for all these repairs along with ball joints.

I can buy the truck for $5150 as is, I think this truck could go for $12-15k...

I am going to try and get it for $4000, I will also be doing the work and so far if I can clean the laminate break down in the tank it will cost me $1500 in parts to get it on the road again.

He verbally told me on the phone that I can have it for $4500..

That's a really good deal. I think you're pretty spot on as far as what it will be worth once fixed.

Good luck Brian. If you can do all of the labor yourself, that will save you a ton of money.

I would think if you went with $4k cash he would go for it. Sounds like a good deal, especially if you do all the labor which is a big chunk of the repair cost. Then keep the fluids and filters changed and it should last a long time.
