It takes more time to do than my old truck, but it's not difficult. I use air tools to R/R the skid plate, so that's no problem. Still, I'd like to strangle the idiot who signed off on the use of a cannister oil filter. To make things worse, I think my wife's new Corolla has one, too but, at least it's easy to get to.

As for the tranny fluid...nope, can't do it ...not concerned about it.

I normally do too but I used a Mobil 1 because of the deal I got last time so I didn't want to fib.

Valvoline Conventional 5W30 and AC Delco filter every 3000 miles FTW!

I'm with you, Jeff! I switched out my synthetic and went back to good ol' conventional every 3-4k/mi. 5 quart jug of Valvoline Premium at Wal-Mart = $10.17 + tax, plus 1 additional court = $2.82 + tax, and a Delco filter at Auto Zone = $4.19 + tax. 20 bucks and 20 minutes, and I get to satisfy my craving of acting like I know how to work on a truck. I guess when changing the oil is the extent of your mechanical ability, it tends to be exciting. Hehe...

To each his own though.

You mean besides the hole I punched in the bottom to drain it

I'm going to cut it in half to see if there's much in there for contaminants, I'll let you know.
