Some other fairly common issue with this trucks are the instrument cluster failing, and the HVAC blower motor resistor pack. Both issues are so common that they did somewhat of a recall on them. Not a true recall, but they extended the warranty on the cluster to 7 years or 75k miles, whichever comes first. It's usually the stepper motors for the needles that go bad. Pretty easy to fix yourself if you know how to solder.

And they will replace the blower motor resistor pack but only if it fails. :brain: had his fixed under warranty on his truck.

Steering shaft clunk and slip yoke clunk are two other minor but severely common issues. There are write ups on here to repair both of those yourself. Its very easy.

Is there much of a difference between the Tahoe Z71 and the Yukon Denali. I mean I know there different but as far as interior options. Or pretty much the same? There's a couple nice white ones in town here for sale. :daddy:

Engine, transfer case, interior...yeah they are different. Z71 is just a regular Tahoe with a couple of exterior body add-ons and some shocks/skid plate.

Ah ok. There's a nice white 03 Z71 on a lot. Haven't stopped and looked at it yet.

Stopped by one of the local dealers this morning. Took a few quick shots of the two they have. Not sure of price or mileage yet.

First one is a 2003 LT. Have leather and looks to be fully loaded...

Second one is a LS. I think, not sure. Has cloth seats and looks to have some good options...

The white one is a 2004. I would try to find an 04+. Because of the AC Compressor failure issue that I previously mentioned on the 03 and older. Plus the 03s have the same wheels and tails as the 00-02 ones. :puke: In 2005 they all came with electric fans and 17 inch wheels. Same wheels as the 05-06 Silverados.

I wouldn't overlook a pre 04 just because of a Possible AC issue. That's crazy. A good deal on a loaded LT should be considered.

^^^ What he said.

Frankly I wouldn't overlook any 2001 up Tahoe. Every vehicle from every manufacturer can have issues. Find one in good condition that you like and buy it. You can nit pick any year model to pieces over what MIGHT go wrong.

I didn't exactly mean it that way. But if there were an 03 and an 04 with similar options and miles, and both in similar condition, I would lean towards the 04 unless there was a huge difference in price. :dunno:

I looked at quite a few before I bought mine. Although mine is only an LS, I got it because it had lower miles and price than most of the other ones, plus it was in EXTREMELY good condition. I actually wanted a Tahoe but settled for this Suburban.
