Both of my parents drove manuals most of their lives, so I was trained to set the parking brake every time, no matter what. Doesn't hurt anything, and keeps it from freezing up due to inactivity.

It's not so much the engine, as it is the truck it's in. In the HDs it almost always gets dismal mileage, but in my truck I average 14 city 17 highway (I've also gotten as high as 19 highway on a ~150 mile trip). 1000 pounds will make a difference. :lol:
