For once one of these stupid lists is actually correct, every vehicle on that list was in fact a game-changer when it came out. Props to an automotive journalist that isn't a complete moron.
Fuel lines are fine, they're stainless. Probably the only thing not rusting on this truck, I think even my windows are starting to rot. :jester:
Yeah it's one of the few jobs I actually dread doing. Why does stainless braided hose have to be $20/ft? It'd be so easy to just run that all the...
I lost a brake line last time I was at the track (a month ago), and haven't had time to replace it and the 3 other rotted-to-hell hard lines in the area. Hopefully I can get some lines made up and sent to me in time for thanksgiving break. I'm going to try to get some lines with a few inches...
Measured the brake lines, and let it run for about an hour to keep the battery charged. It hasn't moved in a month, and I just want to FWONKING DRIVE IT again. Fucking school, no time to fix anything.
I say keep what you have, or go with something that's better to commute with. Doesn't sound like you really need the extra capacity of the 2500.
Did you give up looking for Civic to commute in? As someone who recently added a second vehicle that gets twice the fuel economy as my truck, it sure...
Finally, a picture of the whole damn thing. I'm not really sure I believe this is the same truck I saw in September.
Are the turn signals faded, or is that just how they are on the early front ends?
I'm going to try to get a quote for running ALL stainless braided, just because it'll cut install time down exponentially, and will actually be doable without a lift. Running hard line in the OEM location below the firewall (basically in the 2" between the frame and cab) is fucking torture...
Nah, best so far was last Dec., 13.16.
I really am not looking forward to replacing the 4 remaining rotted hard lines on this fWONking thing. Had to do all 5 on an '03 at work this summer, and it was the most tedious thing I have ever done.
For yesterday:
Took it to the track.
Ran a 13.29.
And blew a brake line.
It's a bit interesting when you hit the brakes at 105mph and the pedal goes straight to the floor with only about 20% braking force.
Just soak the crap out of the nuts if you've got studs. And if it does snap, more often than not there will still be a bit sticking out of the head that you can grab with vice grips once the header's off.
I forget, have you rebuilt the calipers yet or are they still in pieces?
I'll be back this weekend, I'll see if I can get on Colin's ass about the bumpers.
Would Nov. 5 be a good day to work on it for you? What's next on the list?
I'd search on GMFS for info on the polished driveshaft, lots of the Cali guys over there have done it.
Sucks to hear about all the issues you've had with the powder, sounds eerily similar to the whole airbrushing deal.
This is by far one of the most horrific crashes I've seen, I've honestly been a little shaken up since I first saw it last night.
RIP Dan, the world of racing will miss you.
