Cranking 3" is not a good idea, especially if your going to be wheeling and mudding the truck. Save your money for a true 6" suspension, then maybe get a zone 1.5" body lift. That way you can have completely flat angles. My truck is cranked a little over 2 and 3/4" and its a bit much.
Do it...
-pay it off
-color match valence and rear bumper plastics
-have some body paint work done
-remove box, strip frame, axle and leaf springs down then paint it all with gloss black
Mine and my dad's project. Hasn't seen much attention lately since the motor swap, but one day it will get a full frame off resto and a new 351 windsor :D
Body lifts can look damn near invinsible on a gmt 800 if done correctly. So I kinda like them.
If your worried about fitting in your garage, then i would do the body lift and hide it.
Yep im in a city of about 4 to 5,000 people. Some marsh/swamp areas that dry out in the spring and fall and random grass fires here and there. We have more structure fires than grass fires a year including mutual aid.
I let my chick friends drive the truck around to be a sober cab for those of us that aren't sober that night
If im sober, nobody drives the truck but me lol.
You are correct. I wasn't really talking about speeding, a diesel would be nice for towing the gator around and fuel mileage wise. But realistically, how often do we really have grass fires, or get called for mutual aid to grass fires? It varies. So a gasser suites the needs of our dept. It will...
hmm did not know the silms were weak. I've had my slims a year now, but all 6 of my ballasts are mounted in cool places where theres air flow. I will keep that in mind for the future, thanks!
