Well i've confirmed on the other site with others who have done the same swap that the dealership does infact need to program the BSM unit. It has the keyless entry connection 'turned off' and the dealership needs to activate it. So yay, theres a hour of labor I get to pay for a 5 minute job...

Handles came in on Feb 7th. Great condition pieces. Off from a 2007 FX4. Since my XLT has keyless entry and a 5 digit button code card in the manual I am expecting it to be plug n play, i'll find out a little later. I may try putting it in for a few weeks until I get my mirror cap situation...

x2, Might need to leave that to a local place. Take the caps off, sand & prep, then have them sprayed & cured and get them at the end of the day. Re-install. The only way I would buy new mirrors is if I was to replace with the tow mirrors, which I don't think my truck is big enough to pull...
