I know it does not seem like much. But I have chipped away at the old Dodge here and there when I have had the chance lately. I am ready to install the carrier and I found the solution to cutting a neat hole in the HVAC box. I like the deck plate idea but a hole saw that big was very costly and...
Was a total tear down your original intention? Or, did it kind of snow ball? That is how my builds usually go. I plan for something simple and before I know it I have truck pieces laying all over my yard.
That is one reason I cannot keep this truck. I have too much already.
I will check the passenger door for damage. If that is the case I have another door I can include.
This was a good truck once. I know it can be again.
This truck belonged to a good friend of mine that passed away recently. I bought the old Chevy both to help his family and to save it. I know for a fact this truck was running strong when he parked it. The only reason he did was so he could “fix it up”. Unfortunately his health began to decline...
Another question I forgot to ask. I noticed a mixture of standard and metric fasteners when removing the the parts I did. I cannot take my whole tool box to the salvage yard with me. What tools should I make a point to have?
Normally I would agree. But I have a low hour 6.2 and a tight budget. I would love a center mounted turbo'ed 6.5 for this build. But, I have to work with what I have.
I have a military CUCV with a 6.2 sitting out back I hope to get to at some point. Even though I will not start the build for a while I am always looking for parts to stick back. I pulled the parts I was missing for a turbo swap today. The truck I found them on is in a salvage yard and complete...
With a load that heavy I am not sure one end is that much heavier than the other. But I agree, if I had to haul it backwards a long distance, sinching it up as much as possible would be the best way.
I hate that I have neglected this truck so much. But one of the problems with this build is now rectified. I just loaded the old girl up on the trailer so I can get back to work in my new shop. Now the weather will no longer be a factor.
Also, this is the first time the full weight of the truck...
Got to work on the 2N today. I broke down and got a new radiator. I would have loved to have redone the old one and learned how in the process. But I need this tractor working now.
Even though I am trying to get it running and working in a timely manner, I could not help adding something...
I got this several months ago but forgot to post photographs of it. I have been tied up trying to get my 2N back in service and have not done much with this. I keep it at the property in North GA so I have not had a chance to do much with it. I rebuilt the carb and fuel valve and it runs great...
I think it is called the blue book or something like that. I have a copy of my own. TSC wants $300 for a new rad. I have found them for less elsewhere. I am now leaning towards a new one altogether.
Man I have been busy as of late. And on top of it all I just inherited yet another tractor. But, I will get into that at another time. I have a little update on this 2N. I got the lower tank off so I can repair the leaks. Thanks to the new torch I picked up recently, I should have this knocked...
