Its making the same power but using less fuel and less weight. The engine is running more effiecient and making the same power using less fuel. At least thats how I understand it.
Shane he covered all those things in the last thread he had for this engine. It was running when he got it, he parked it. It sat for a while untouched. He went to start it again and nothing. No smoke no attempt to start. If you check his thread history you will see the thread.
Nozzles are not...
I think it will get better mileage than the 1.6L. It will probably get another 5 MPG's. Its not much but the automakers have to raise their MPG average before 2014. Therefore more of these style cars will be coming out.
I would be interested in that if I were commuting a long way. I just wish they would get off there ass and put a small diesel in one of these cars. A 1.6L Turbo diesel in a fiesta would get 65-70 MPG.
Pulling it wont be that bad. I had to pull one when I worked in a junkyard. We unhooked everything cut the frame rails and picked the body up with a loader. The engine was left sitting there in the frame rails. Some have subframes to which are even easier.
looks good
My car had the same issue when I brought it home from the dealer. It would not idle. If I pushed the throttle it would start. It was just a sticking Idle air control valve.
Just because fuel is coming out does not mean its under enough pressure to pop the nozzle. I remember you said it ran when you got it but it has been a long time since it was ran. Do you have a diesel shop around you. I hate to break it to you but I think you will have to bring the injectors...
Its a 12 valve cummins
The fuel system is mechanical. If he is getting a strong pulse where they go into the injectors then the most likely the problem is in the injectors.
He has the rotary pump not the p-pump. It can still be the injectors. The tips could be rusted tight. I would pull the injectors and have them pop tested at a diesel fuel shop.
I'm not holding my breath. There are a ton of trucks a lot nicer than mine out there. I think mine is caught in between. The either do stock trucks or outragiously modified trucks. The readers rides and the whoops is the first thing I read when it comes in the mail.
