Why would they need to be heat treated? They'll get plenty of heat treating when you apply the brake pedal.

There's nothing wrong with drilling your own rotors, these other guys are just warning you off because they are pansies and don't want to use a drill and countersink. How do you think they get those holes in them in the first place? They weren't formed there from a mold, a machine drilled them...
