I found the RS9000s worked great for HEAVY loaded trucks. I had an 04 2500HD that I had a heavy truck camper in the back of, and if I cranked them to 9 when loaded, they were fantastic! When unloaded, they were barely better than stock

That is the best you will get for the money you want to spend. Freeflowing exhaust, a BlackBear tune is going to run you a grand. There are no magic bolt ons. You would need to get into a cam, headwork etc and it just isn't worth it. A 5.3 swap is the next step.

I would use 8mm thread inserts. I would not tap 1/8" of rail, and expect it to hold.

Man, I don't hear too many complaints about Tahoes, that's a bummer. Congrats on the new truck!

The definitely control all the gas taxes around here. ID has a bit lower taxes, but not much. Gas is about 10-15 cents lower.
