    Missfire on 97 4.3L

Gas smell huh? If the compression & coolant pressures check out your next step might be to remove the plenum and look for gas buildup on the intake. The injector poppet may be loose on #4.

    U-joint

Gonna be worth it cuz that other one was pretty iffy.

    U-joint

Talks about pressing in not pushing in by hand.

    U-joint

Still doesn't sound right.Got a micrometer?I wonder if the round loops(can't think of a better name) where the cups go might be a little worn. I'll check on ALLDATA for my burb and see what it says.

    U-joint

Agreed that's not normal.Every U-joint I've replaced needed a big vice or a press to get it out.I wonder if someone replaced it and got the wrong part and instead of getting the right one just installed it anyway. U-joints normally need to be pressed in.

End of road for VW's iconic camper vans

My mother has one,it had most of the necessary stuff in it for camping but man was it gutless. She drove it from Seattle down here twice back in the '70s,she loved it.Add that it was an A/T and it was even worse, engine was smooth though.Imagine her in her '50s and my grandmother in her '70s...

Tech Articles - Brakes, Shocks, and Alignment Specs

I put them on Grumpy's burb recently(1/2t 4x4)and seem to be fine, for her.She hasn't said much about the ride other than it feels solid on the road.Keep in mind she's driven all my trucks in the past and they've all been 3/4t so she's used to a stiff ride.

Tech Articles - Brakes, Shocks, and Alignment Specs

Those are good articles,I always had camber & caster confused. Also,on my burb I run KYB Mono-Tubes and love the firm ride.Being a 3/4t suburban it already had a firm ride but the mono tubes made it more firm and very controlled. The mono tubes also helped quite a bit to reduce body lean in...

My 1995 GMC 7.4L lost all of its power

Keep in mind the Gen V engine & 4L80E trans are computer controlled, putting the older engine & trans is going to be a lot of work,I'm sure it's been done but I wouldn't do it.I wouldn't think it's just an easy swap.

My 1995 GMC 7.4L lost all of its power

Think I'd take it to a reputable trans shop and get their opinion.

My 1995 GMC 7.4L lost all of its power

I'm not much on transmissions,I just do the regular maintenance and cross my fingers. As far keeping it on the road I think I'd change as many of the fluids as I can.....coolant(flush & replace),change the differential gear lube in both diffs, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc. I'm not sure...
