    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

The truck is 44 years old, spent most of its life in East Texas where it's pretty moist and Sandy. But you have to also keep in mind that when these trucks were built there was no dipping or galvanizing of the panels to protect from corrosion. They slapped the trucks together then painted them...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Crappy weekend but I managed to get a little done on Sunday. The wife's car crapped out on our way to lunch Saturday so had to have it towed to the dealership hopefully find out what's wrong with it Monday. :ohnoes: Received some front fender support tabs, these should be the last items...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Not a huge amount of progress this past weekend but a few hours Saturday and half the day Sunday.. Removed the last rear cab support and installed the new one. Started chopping out the old passenger side rocker and floor, prepping for the new patch panels. There was a ton of loose...

Haha, newer cars are great until you have to work on them. Like 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound sack!

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Originally I intended on sand blasting it but after reading stories of blasting causing severe warping, I resorted to mechanical methods. Scraping the gunk/ undercoating, wire wheel on an angle grinder, scotchbrite pads on my die grinder, flap wheels, sanding discs and anything else I could...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

I hope it turns out as nice as I envision it. But I still don't have a complete picture of what I'm going to do to it. Yeah I'm cutting as many corners as I can here! It's slow at times, I get frustrated and walk away from it. There's no hurry in getting it done but I want to at...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Update time: I took this past week off because I thought my suspension would be coming in and I have a bunch of vacation time that I have to burn before the end of October. Suspension still hasn't arrived but I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime. Spread some body filler over the gas...

What Did You Do To Your Truck Today? v2.0

I drove the Ford to get lunch for the guys. To another store for some batteries and WalMart for some groceries for the ship. The most I've driven that thing during the week in a long time.

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Update time: This past weekend was completely unproductive with the weather and then Mother's Day. But I needed some couch time. Finally have both frame rails blasted and a coat of rattle can primer on them. What a royal PITA that whole ordeal became! So I ran out of abrasive and picked up...

 I have busted a bunch of rust with them. As a matter of fact I have my own personal needle gun. But they are pretty destructive on thin metal. :( This is a internet pic of the one I have.

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Weekend update: Seemed like my ADD kicked in and I didn't get much accomplished. No sheetmetal work but trying to get setup for blasting the rusty parts of the cab before I do more patch panels. I'll need to lay the cab on it's back when I blast the underside and I don't want to...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Well I finished up the God awful door pillar:lol: It isn't the prettiest but the rocker panel will cover it up and it won't be seen for another 40+ years. Decided to blank off the clutch Rod hole, so I cut a piece of metal left over from my patch panels and welded it in...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Started installing the rear lower door pillar patch, fit wasn't perfect but it was manageable. Had to cut a slit in the patch and widen it some to get the contours to align. A lot of grinding and it turned out ok. Next I moved to the front door pillar patch. Man...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

Well operation cancer removal started this weekend! I knew I had patch panels to install but did not expect to be replacing cab support sections. Oh well, more parts on order and it has become painfully obvious that I'm gonna have to invest in a sand blaster.... Pulled the drivers...

    1971 C-10 "ResuWrecktion"

The gas tank is removed so it's time to fill the hole. Patch panel in and welded. Lots of grinding later and it doesn't look too bad, a thin coat of filler and it will look perfect. :D I'm no body man so I will just do the best I can with it!
