Agreed. You're going to want/need one anyways. To check the timing on the TBI trucks, you need to disconnect the brown wire that's beneath the glovebox before you start the motor, otherwise the computer will keep changing the timing and you'll never get it right. It should be set to top dead...

Very first thing I would do in your situation is check the fuel pressure. It's kind of a PITA because you have to install a T-fitting between the throttle body and fuel line so you can put a gauge on it. IIRC, you should have around 11-14 psi, and if not... If that doesn't fix it, I would bet...

Bilsteins are too rough for mostly street use, IMHO.
