I'm hoping those numbers conservative. I loved the Gen III/IV "LS" but so far I'm underwhelmed with what I just read on the Gen V "LT". A ground up redesign, direct injection, and a "radically new combustion system" but horsepower only went up 20 while keeping the same displacement? Not that 450hp is anything to scoff at, it just doesn't seem like the generational leap that was expected with the addition of all those fancy new technologies. An LS3 could probably hit 450 very easily. Also disappointed they kept the practically useless single-cam VVT just for the VVT badge, was hoping for a cam-in-cam similar to ChryCo. The truck engines better be more of an upgrade as the LS is falling behind and a slight improvement won't get them back in the game. Sounds really negative but it's not necessarily that the LT isn't going to be a great engine, more of a testamate to how awesome the LS is/was and the improvement it was over the Gen I and II.

It's all speculation right now. I'm guessing this is just the tip of the iceberg. The power delivery is better than the LS7 which is a 427. I like.I'm hoping those numbers conservative. When you put it that way...yes it doesn't seem like much of a win...
However I think the point was efficiency. Once we start seeing real world numbers on fuel efficiency then we will know if it truly is a success or not.![]()

TT ZR1 Baby!I saw a video of them testing a gen V LT1 variant that had twin turbos on it. It was in that blue engine carriage. GM didn't make any mention of turbos but a charge pipe, wastegate and presumed exhaust side of a turbo housing was spotted.
