Mary's '06 Altima just started throwing P0335 crankshaft position circuit code. I don't want to throw parts at it it to fix it. I have tried to find the right diagnostic flow chart for the code ans was only able to find some rather generic ones. I was wondering if any body would have the flow chart. I know that there are other Altima owners here.
Yeah, had that same exact problem on our 05 a few years ago. You need to replace both the camshaft sensor AND the crankshaft sensor, since either one of those will throw that code. And they are both actually the same part, just one is technically called the camshaft sensor, and one is referred to as the camshaft sensor. Nissan re-designed the sensor with a metal cap over the end of the sensor that goes inside the engine. The original sensors were all plastic and from what I'm told they overheated and solder joints inside them melted. So if the sensor at the parts store is all plastic, don't buy it and fork out the extra $$ for the ones from the dealer. Back in 2009 or so when I had to replace them, no parts store had the "upgraded" version yet so I bought two sensors from the dealer for around $50 each. They are very easy to change, but the crank sensor is kinda hard to get to since its on the back of the engine facing the firewall.
I just found the pic I took of the sensors. Original sensor on the left, and the new sensor on the right.
Thanks Scotty. I have been trying to do some checking. The Parts stores now have the metal sensors. All the stores carry the same one for about 30 bucks. I was going to buy one Saturday. But I was also looking for a good flow chart to verifiy if it was the sensor or the wiring.
