I replaced the valve cover gasket on my wife's 2005 Altima today, because its been leaking oil.
Once I got the cover off, I was quite impressed with how clean the inside of the engine is. Son of a bitch looks brand new, yet it has 120k miles on it. There is absolutely ZERO sludge anywhere! I have been using full synthetic oil since the second oil change at 7k miles. Its had Mobil1 SuperSyn in it since 7k miles and started using Amsoil XL Series somewhere around 75k miles. I will never use Dino oil ever again. Only Amsoil for
me. :synad: :D

And Nick, feel free to post this picture on your :synad: Facebook page if you want. Because I am one happy customer.

I bet you are saving yourself a timing chain replacement (common 2.5 problem) by running good lubricants. Less wear pays off in the long run!

High quality synthetics keep things nice and clean and cool. Thanks for the picture. I need to get it posted on my SA FB page.:)

You mentioned that before. Where did you hear about this timing chain issue. The only issue I have found out about is the Pre-cat in the exhaust manifold going bad between 100k and 140k miles. If you do not address it, you will ruin the engine. I simply swapped the stock manifold with a header to just do away with the pre-cat altogether. It seems this is a VERY common issue on all the Altima forums, and people are forking up $1200-$2000 or more to have the manifold with pre-cat replaced. Others who didn't address it have oil burning issues and by that point the engine is toast. I am seeing more and more of these cars in the junkyards with no body damage, so I assume they ignored the CEL and ruined the engine.

Awesome! I started running full synthetic on our 2009 Altima 2.5 after the first scheduled oil change and have used it since. Glad to see the results.
