Outta be fun with the 6 speed stick and 3.73 gearing.

They had some trouble with the 3.6 heads but seems like that problem cropped up in some of the 12s but has supposedly been fixed with redesigned heads. Haven't had any powertrain problems on my 11 besides some poor early programming bugs in the PCM (knock on wood).

I know it's not drivetrain related, but they did eventually find a permanent fix for your key fobs too, didn't they?

Good info. Thanks.

I'm looking at Wranglers today and might drive one with a 3.6 if I have time.

No one has any 6 speeds on the lot around here...all automatics. I had a GC Limited in college and loved it but I've never driven a Wrangler. I'll at least drive one of the automatics to get a feel for it but I definitely plan to buy a 6 speed (if I go the Jeep route).

About the gearing...this definitely isn't going to be a highway cruiser so what do you think about 4.10 gears? Or do you think 3.73 is the perfect combo?

I'm throwing 4.10 out there since I may want to throw some 35's on it with a very mild lift.

Yes, turned out both keyfobs failed and the new revision that they sent required a software update to the wireless module that they didn't know about. Has been working perfect since last fall so I'm back to being spoiled and feeling inconvienced any time I have to drive an "old school car." Having to fumble through your pocket for the key, pull it out, hit unlock, get in the car, put the key in the ignition, turn it and hold it on start, let go...just a pain in the ass really. It was really disheartening with the Camry in Houston, no matter how many times I tried, it wouldn't unlock when I grabbed the handle. :uhoh:

I forgot that the 4.10 was available on the Rubicon, most of the others top out with the 3.73. In a Wrangler the lower the better!

You could skip all that fumbling for the key if you just left the key in the center console and left it unlocked with the windows down...

:jester:

I "thought" they had finally fixed it. I'm glad to hear the fix wasn't just a temporary patch to get you out of their faces..
