After having a very poorly "colormatched" grille for the last two years, I finally nutted up and bought the right paint.

The original plan was to sand smooth the textured black part of the original grille and paint it all green, but when I pulled my old chrome Tahoe grille out of the basement a few weeks ago, I noticed that in all of the corners, the chrome was flaking off.

So since that was already smooth, I just sanded all of the fWONked up spots really well, and scuffed the rest with 320 grit. Yes, that's a camshaft holding the grille up, it was the first thing I found.

No pictures, but it looked kind of cool all scuffed up, sort of a brushed look.

After 2 coats of filler primer to cover the imperfections in the chrome.

Two coats of base coat.

Don't paint in flip flops, you'll look like an idiot.

Then after 4 coats of clear.

It's out drying in the garage now, I'll probably put it on the truck before work tomorrow if it's completely dry, and wetsand/polish in a week or so.

And since all of those pictures suck, here's one of my truck at the track on Wed. (ran a 13.4).

I'm not ashamed of my footwear, I can take it.

And don't judge the messy garage, I've got way too many projects going on right now.

Nice! I didn't know you can get base coat and clear coat in a rattle can.

Do you have to wear a helmet when you take it to the track? They only make you wear them here if you run under 10's I think.
