I also like the MR2. Too bad it was phased out, its technical layout was perfect for a low-cost sportscar.

my buddy has one. its a POS..but kinda goofy to drive


he plans on putting a N/A LS1 in it and having a beefier transaxle to handle the power. it will have twice the cylinders and probably 5 times the power.

The getrag 282 that goes behind the 3.4L TDOHC in the W-Body's is the transmission of choice for a hopped up Fiero... That's probably the most solid FWD transmission GM ever used

I know somebody that still has a pristine supercharged MR2. It kinda cool

I have a buddy who has an MR2 in insane condition as well.

Were they all supercharged?

The supercharger didn't roll out until 1988 for North America... 4AGZE was the supercharged engine, IIRC.

The 2nd generation came with a turbo 2.0 instead of the supercharged 1.6.

The first gen looked like a cross between the old 80s RWD Corolla and a Fiero with a touch of 2nd gen RX7

The last Celica still had some supercharged versions, which were ironically shared with the Lotus Elise but not with the MR2.
