Lifter bore issue

Went to put in lifters that had been soaking for a day-got them all in with no problem-"BUT"-The one i had a issue with(number 3 exhaust)-it has a little scare mark in the bore and can't seem to get lifter in like its rounded a tad at the top---can a manchiest fix this? If so do i have to completely strip it down-heads off-cam out-crank off...?

A small hone can fix the lifter bore. It's probably just a lip issue.

That's what I was thinking. And yes, I would strip the engine down.
But first, did you try other lifters in that spot. Might be the lifter has a lip.

Thats what i was hoping-yea you right it seems to be a lip issue-can't get it in the hole-hole to small-lol---just got that. It's not major and should only take him a min right? Should i take heads off and cam out an leave everything else on?

If you are reusing lifters, they need to be reinstalled in the same place they came out of (with the same cam). They tend to mushroom on the bottom over time and won't go back into a lifter bore easily. You don't want to put them back in different locations because they will wear quickly and can eat up cam lobes.

Once the mushroom on the bottom, they really need to be replaced.

2nd new cam and 2nd new lifters-torn the u know what off the cam lobe and knocked off some lifter bottom smooth off-just number 3 exhaust everthing else still looked new.---i don't have to take the crank out for this do i-i was just thinking short blk form with no cam.
