Well Scott... In the interest of full disclosure I have not heard the Advent myself. The guy at the audio shop said that they have one in a Suburban that I can hear but it was not there. I plan to give it a listen.

Please do and report back with a full review. :D

When it comes to the audio using this radio the difference would really be in if it was the standard non-amplified system. If you have the Bose or premium sound you basically will get the same audio output that the factory originally did. The advantage would be that the unit has a 9 band equalizer as well as a LOUD setting like most aftermarket receivers. This is where you might get a difference in audio over what the original did.

Now when it comes to having the standard audio system then this is where the radio can either shine or fall. Granted you are feeding more power than what the original factory radio was pushing to the speakers you may find that you're just amplifying the same flat speakers that you didn't care for in the first place. I highly recommend upgrading to a step up from factory in this case. Take advantage of that boost of power. Everyone knocks some $50 set of speakers but hell, they are better than what you had in the doors to begin with. If you really want to make a difference take advantage of the RCA outputs on it and throw a 50x4 channel amplifier on it and some speakers. Want even more kick then put a line-driver in between the radio and the amplifier. Boost that RCA input to the amp to 8 volts and make it SCREAM!!!! There's lots of step you can do to keep the truck factory looking but more enjoyable.

I appreciate what you are saying. I have MB Quart speakers and plan to run a 10 inch sub/ multichannel amp combo. What I've been told is that the other higher end manufacturers sound abunch better than the Advent - even with amps and nice speaks.

I haven't heard it installed in a truck yet. Will do that next week - but sound quality is far more important to me than OEM looks.

There ya go, Jim. DO IT!!!
Everything I have dug up says the Advent is all about integration and OEM looks but doesn't sound very good. I'm not paying a grand for something pretty that sucks. I did get to actually see and touch one here in town.

They do look nice, but I think I'll be sticking with something more oriented toward sound quality instead of fashion.

I would. :dunno:

Depends on how pretty and quality of service and the relationship connection... cause if it's your wife you will be paying for that forever.
