well its been quite a while since I updated, the truck has mostly been sitting and I haven't worked on it much due to the colder weather, anyways on to my update:

I don't think I ever took a picture of it but this was my basic intake setup, not shown is the MAF which I just used a silicone coupler to hang it off the throttle body and then used a zip tie to dangle the temp sensor in front of it, I just rigged it up to get it running

these are the materials I picked up to start making a permanent intake, 3.5" polished tubing, silicone elbows, stainless t-bolt clamps

and here's what I have so far, I still need to get a bigger air filter and build a nice box to isolate it from the hot engine compartment, but as is, my intake air temp is only about ten degrees above the ambient temp while driving, the way it was rigged up before the intake air temp was usually somewhere north of 150 degrees

You order that damn tuner yet?

not yet, because I want to have the intake and exhaust more finalized first, that way the data it records will be accurate, just getting an actual intake built it already runs 100% better
