I was curious about the heat.

Yeah, high power LEDs like that get a lot hotter than you'd think.

I carry a CREE P4 300lm penlight in my pocket these days and it somehow got switched on while I was driving. It got hot enough to give me a first degree burn on my thigh in the shape of the flashlight.

I was assuming so, looking at those massive cooling fins on some of them. I was thinking of discreet ways of mounting them in grilles, or even the fog light housings, but there is no way given the size of those LED housings. I would have to mount it in the opening of my bumper for the trans cooler.

Agreed! I wanted to get one Dually to put as a reverse light under the rear bumper. But not for that price

I can't wait for when these things aren't so crazy expensive. LEDs are the way to go

The thing is, I don't think there will ever be a time they're not. Maybe someone will eventually make a more affordable knock off that performs the same, but till then Rigid is just going to be pricey.

We give a couple of guys hell over on the other forum about Rigids. It's sort of become a running joke. I know they're awesome lights, but 1200.00 is just too much for a light IMO. I have no use for anything like that, but I suppose if you do and you have the money, go for it.
