Re: My 2012 Mod of the year - Truck Camper

I figured you would want a convenient way to carry your rods.

You picked the one single reason I don't like the Lance. Our last one had (2) 8 foot drawers, they are waterproof and you can put the poles and all your wet gear in there for the ride home. it was nice.

Where will you stash your rods then if you get the Lance?

Also, what's the max length you will run, 8.5', 9.5'?

Don't know much about the Canadian campers but I know a Lance camper is about as good as it gets around here.I always wanted a Lance but couldn't afford one and still be able to ride my dirtbikes & camp in the des...had to settle for cheap used ones, but they did the job

A 9.5' is a good size for two,I wouldn't go any shorter.I'd guess you know that already though :D

I've had both(and an RV)and I'm really not sure which I prefer. All three have their advantages & dis-advantages...I know one thing,I miss having a truck.I can lay a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back of the burb but I can't haul a refridgerator..(standing up anyway).A truck & camper is more versatile I suppose...

Wow
That Lancer is impressive. My opinion on this is as long as you and the wife sit down and go over all the things you did not like about the last one and buy for those improvements. You will be satisfied.

I was amazed that rig is set up for sleeping 5... Pretty cool.

Since I experienced Rving all my life your storage needs become a important part of search requirements. We pulled our trailer (1979 27' Coachmen) with a specially equipped conversion van. With a family of 5 at the time we needed more storage space.

Dude we tented all summer every summer for 15 years. She earned the camper. Tenting with bears and moose was exciting though

I understand, campers are nice to have and I will have one if the wife and I decide to ever camp because I she won't tent camp.

It has been a huge part of our life. My son was conceived on a camping trip  and we used to take him fishing on long weekends in a carseat when he was just a baby when we camped in a tent.

It took a long time to finally get our first camper. We both have tent camped since we were kids.

My whole family has earned their stripes, especially here with the wildlife
I grew up camping also. Her family didn't do the camping thing. When I was in middle school my mom put her foot down and said you either get a camper or I'm not going anymore. My dad bought a nice 5th wheel and we had that for awhile. He ended up selling it because us kids just got to busy with sports and we never had time to go camping anymore. I'm sure he will get another though before long since we are both out of the house now. I love camping, nothing like being outdoors and enjoying nature.

Have to bring the 2 piece rods, and put them inside.
Likely the 8.5, there were limited numbers of 9.5 manufacturers for shortbed models like my last one.

A 9.5' is a good size for two,I wouldn't go any shorter.I'd guess you know that already though :D
It is tough to find a 9.5 shortbed model these days :( They are kind of disproportionate looking on a shorty, anyways

Thanks Dave! You should, we have had some great times in them! You can pull a trailer with the Harley!

She is sold on anything that is as nice as the last one  She would take that Adventurer back in a heartbeat. As for sleeping 5, don't count on it! We did 4 quite often, but by the 3rd night the kid and his buddy would pitch a tent. They do 3 nicely.
