Why buy new when you can restore?
Filled it up yesterday. Got 16.3mpg which still sucks for a "smaller" truck (the Z71 got 14 in the winter when I drove it; and my other V6 S10 got 18-19).
Did the throttle body mod to my spare one tonight (where you cut off the diffuser plate on the back side of the butterfly). I'm gonna install it tomorrow if I have time. Hopefully I see a 1mpg increase like others have seen with it!
No one has found any long-term effects of it, but just in case, I'll have the original butterfly to put back in if need be. 
Gonna be trying to cut back on driving and try to stretch a tank out to 2 weeks. Almost did it this time (made it 12 days). Keep in mind that 15gal only gets me 250mi.
