Ok so I am REALLY FWONKIN' pissed about my AC tensioner pulley.:fume:

I'm on my 3rd one. The original, then it locked up and broke the belt so I swapped out for a new one and a new main tensioner and BOTH belts. Less then 6 months THE SQUEALING STARTED.:willy:

I replaced it and several months later THE SQUEALING AGAIN :frustration: (Worse when it's humid and/or raining out.) Replaced both belts(under warranty) also.

The first time around I had replaced the water pump, alternator, clutch fan thingy,BOTH tensioners and BOTH belts.(to start from scratch and avoid problems at a later time with those components)

So is it possible that I got 2 POS tensioners from O'reilly or is my AC possibly been running improperly causing this?:dunno:

AC blows cold and no apparent probs with it. It's a sealed bearing and I'm at my wit's end. :suicide:

When my AC compressor went out, it started breaking the tensioner. Not the main one, just the one for the AC belt. I actually broke 3 of them. But mine didn't last 6 months. I installed the 2nd one and it broke the same day. I then installed a 3rd one and revved the engine to 3000rpm's still in my driveway and it exploded. I gave up at that point and just took off the AC belt until I installed a new compressor. Since the new compressor went on, all has been perfectly fine.

As Scotty noted, it's more than likely that your pump is going south. When it's running see if the belt is really jumping around.

Also use Gates or Goodyear Gatorback belts. You won't be disappointed

Thanks. I'll look at it while it's running. It usually quiets down and then stops squealing especially with less moisture in the air. It's annoying and embarrassing. :uhoh:

I usually just crank the stereo and pretend not to notice.:rocker:

I bought the Gates belts as opposed to the house brand. Would have gone with the gatorbacks had I heard about them at that time.
