OK.

Went and drove the Mazda Speed3. Very nicely done for what it is. Great power (zero turbo lag) and a silky shifting 6 speed. Cons are that it's FWD and you know it when you stand on the throttle plus it rides a bit like a covered wagon like the WRX (which is to be expected in this type of car). This car is 8.5/10s of the car the WRX is for far less money. The AWD WRX simply has it spanked in the overall feel and handling department.

I will say that Mazda has done some really nice chassis work with this car. It has amazing turn in and really tracks well under power. These are some of the same traits I have come to expect from my Miata.

This is the perfect 25 year old guy car... but it is not the car for us. We are looking for more refinement.

I think either one of them would be fun for about a month and then I'd be tired of it.
