More stroke = less RPM.

The 8.1 stock has the same RPM limit that the 4.8/5.3/6.0 get.

Guaranteed torque until you can afford to mod the motor.

Torque FTW.

I like the 6.0, but the 8.1 has some serious guts. :dunno:

deisels just dont seem to do as good in the pits( could be the weight:dunno:)...I'll keep it in mind for a tow rig though.:)

There is nothing bad enought to not deserve a diesel, it's just matter of the most suitable one. :jester:

You could try a heavy-duty 4cyl turbodiesel such as Cummins 4BT (step-van engine) or an Isuzu 4BD (or a 4HK). I have driven some Ford Superduties with Cummins 4BT and they're cool :naughty:

As far as gasser (or ethanol as you told me once you was considering to use) goes, the 8.1L Vortec is still one of my favorite engines, but as far as cost-effectiveness go I would get a 6.0L :thumbs:

It was already said... 6.0L lq4 block punched out to 408. It would put out way more power than an 8.1.

If you can find one cheap enough, that's a hell of a nice torque curve....

It'll tide you over until you get that 6.0 built up....

And no SBC can touch the sound of a BBC :lol:

What is the dyno from? and 8.1?
