Alright guys, I narrowed it down to four models (Camry, Accord, Corolla, or Sonata).
It feels like it's taking forever to find "the one" but I think I may have come across it.
This one: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/2500846022.html

He's asking $9750 for it and it books in good condition for the same. The car itself appears to be in between good and excellent condition.
Here's my two problems, the guys says that it has had a break job in the last year but 1. The brakes feel like there pulsating a little when coming to a stop from highway speeds (not slamming on the brakes just slowly pressing down). and 2. the steering wheel has a slight vibration at 70mph.

are these things to be weary of or does it sound more like I need to balance the tires and check the pads (didn't today because it was hot as **** outside and the rims are darn near impossible to see through.

I'm going back tomorrow with my dad to have him double check everything and make sure it's all running fine. Is there any problems known to the corolla that I should watch out for? I know this probably isn't the best place to ask but I haven't joined a ricer forum yet and this is the next best thing.

He's the original owner
Gets 28-32mpg mixed driving
Clean title
no accidents
newer tires (in the last 12k)
no visible stains on the upholstery and the only thing wrong with the interior is the ash tray in the center console doesn't stay shut.
Shifts smooth and everything.
just need to know if i should be weary of anything.
oh and I'm thinking about offering him 9250, just because paying exactly kbb seems dumb to me (like paying the sticker price for a new car).

what do ya'll think?

Those are pretty dependable little cars. They get great gas mileage as well. Price seems a bit on the high end... It is priced right at full retail.

The price to me seems pretty high...
If it recently had a brake job, there should be "NO" pulsation when getting on the brakes.
That usually means a warped rotor.
A warped rotor could also cause a vibration in the steering wheel.

If I decided I really wanted it...I would show up with about $8,500 in $100 dollar bills.

Lay $8,000 worth down on the table and tell him that is your offer.
That would be 80 $100 dollar bills...

If he says no, lay out the other $500 on the table and tell him that is your FINAL OFFER...

If he still says no...start picking them up..........SLOWLY... and putting them back in your pocket and see what he does.
He is not gonna want to see that money going back into YOUR pocket and not into HIS pocket...:)

My grandma had a '04 Corolla, and hers was M/T. About 2 months ago she was at my mom's home and my grandpa sold her Corolla and got a Hyundai Tucson for her. She misses that Corolla so fWONkin bad that I still don't know how she didn't kill my grandpa...
