They did, it was called an S-10.

The S10 with the 4.3 V6 was a good little truck. I had one way back in 91 and it was a great vehicle. Also had an 89 S10 Blazer 2 door 4.3 V6 which was one of my all time favorites.

I still think the Tacoma is easily one of best small trucks being produced right now. The Frontier with the 4.0 is not bad either.
