I used to think the Aveo was actually Korean. Except for the engine, since GM's biggest 4cyl engines manufacturing plant in the world is often reported to be in Brazil...

Pretty interesting. I wonder how the Tundra compares to some of those.

I know a girl that drives a red Aveo.....she calls it the fireball. It is so friggin small! it comes up to my stomach or so (I'm 6'5") I probably couldn't even get in it

It is a Korean car, made by Daewoo but apparently they have a plant in Mexico just like Hyundai has a plant in this country.

The big picture is the Japanese forced the US automakers to not manufacture shitcans. Competition>1970's/80's domestic auto manufactures.

Manufacturing yesterdays technology isn't the industry of tomorrow. Domestic content in cars is going to be a thing of the past (if it isn't already), no one wants to pay a guy $70/hr in wages+benefits to press fenders and tighten lug nuts. It's the product life cycle. If anyone doesn't like it I suggest changing your flag to the hammer and sickle :D

Hyundais in Mexico are sold by Dodge. About the Aveo, I used to think it was fully-assembled in Korea. Then, now I can't say how much Korean parts the U.S.-spec Aveo has.
