I think it will get better mileage than the 1.6L. It will probably get another 5 MPG's. Its not much but the automakers have to raise their MPG average before 2014. Therefore more of these style cars will be coming out.

It says in the article they are expecting similar power and mpg ratings compared to the 1.6 liter 4 cylinder (~120 hp, 40 mpg). :dunno:

I would be interested in that if I were commuting a long way. I just wish they would get off there ass and put a small diesel in one of these cars. A 1.6L Turbo diesel in a fiesta would get 65-70 MPG.

Now you done it. Rooster will sop this up with a roll.

Its making the same power but using less fuel and less weight. The engine is running more effiecient and making the same power using less fuel. At least thats how I understand it.

I'm amazed at how many people think this is something new. Europe and many other parts of the world have been driving 1.0 liter cars (some boosted - some not) for many years.

Bigger is always better thinking is a purely American thing.

Hopefully the implementation of this type of car here will result in some 40-50 mpg models. How many times do we have to go through an oil price hike before we start thinking with the big head for a change?
