Well, not so much of a build, but just a place to keep track of the progress. No major plans in the immediate future, but I can't just leave anything alone.

This is how the car looked when I bought it:

Notice the many years of baked on bugs, and the misaligned passenger side headlight (as well as the FUBARed drivers side headlight cover, that will be fixed later).

After a long day of washing/claying/polishing, and a bit of headlight re-aligning:

Over spring break the car also got new plugs, wires, new air and fuel filters, an oil change, front pads and rotors, and trans and diff fluid. This summer, both brake fluid, and cluch fluid will be bled, coolant flushed, and some gnarly looking vacuum lines replaced. The valve cover gasket, timing belt, and water pump will also be done. I also have the small and large rubber shift boots on order.

Now, the fun stuff. Just last night I ordered the Flyin' Miata front sway bar, hopefully it'll show up at home before I go back for my cousin's wedding.

And the big news:

A set of silver 14x7 +19mm Enkei RPF1s will be on order shortly, I just need to save up a bit more. They look amazing, and weigh only... Get this... 8.4 lbs per wheel.

These wheels:

Some Dunlop Direzza Star Specs will be purchased at some point this summer to go with the new wheels.

That's pretty much it, this car's main function is to serve as a reliable, efficient DD. I'd LOVE to lower it, but I need to keep myself in check at some point.

Looks great, Dan!

Is that a Mazda sticker up front or is that embossed in the plastic?

Looks good Dan. You got the right color. :)
I told myself a couple of years ago, that my next vehicle, no matter what it was, would be white.

No V8 in this thing, I feel like this car's soul is the high-revving 4cyl., plus I don't want a buttload of torque in something this light.

Once I know how to drive, and the suspension is finished, I'll probably go turbo. I've wanted to build my own turbo kit for something for a while.
Looks great, Dan!

It's a sticker. I know, I know...

There's something I like about it though, it's subtle, and breaks up the otherwise pretty bland front end.

I'll probably go OCD at some point and peel it off though, it's just a matter of time.
Did you go with the black wheels or the gold?

Gold isn't available in the US anymore, and this thing ain't getting black wheels. I want to just go the "simple and clean" direction, as opposed to the way I went with the truck.

Congrats Dan. You didn't even give us a chance to pick your wheels. WTF?
