I can turn off TC in the Caddy... and the Stability Control seems to be JUST RIGHT...
You can slide it sideways a fair amount before it kicks in and when it does it is real gentle on what it does.
Sometimes you wonder... "Did it kick in then... to help me around that corner...or not"

 that's what most are going to. Even have some catchy names for it. Seems to work OK but who likes brakes activating themselves. Hell, my cruise control will activate the brakes.

Yeah, that sounds "kind of" cool, in theory.. But, I bet it can be a little unnerving to have it brake without YOU pressing the pedal..

Luckily its really smooth and I only really notice it once hills start levelling out and you can feel it transition from brakes to throttle. I wish I could turn off TC ans esc though, I can just lessen TC.

For me, they just get in the way... They're usually too intrusive for me to like... And slower to react than I am

Though that was a 2009 RAV4.... Maybe they're better now :dunno:

Of course they are... You're better/faster than a computer that processes, reads the sensors THOUSANDS of times per second, and can react just as fast with timing, throttle, and other adjustments... :jester:

I hear ya bout the intrusive part, though.

I thought Acura's system was WAY too intrusive on my '04 TSX.. I thought GM hit it about perfect with the '07 Sierra.. especially on the stability assist. You could play around and have some fun before it'd tell you "naaah, I think that's about enough, let's get a little straighter on the road."

It wasn't constantly slapping your hand, though...

The Outback.. I've gotten it airborne a few times on/off the local railroad crossings.. (Dr Bob can probably attest to them if he notices this thread.) So far, I haven't hit the "just right" throttle amount to keep it from going "woah! let me slow down the wheels for a second or so.. ok! Now you can go again!"

That's "about" the only complaint on the traction/stability combo.. And it does that even with the traction control off.. :dunno:

The longer I have the car, the more I learn the limits of what sets off the systems.. So, it's kind of like getting that perfect launch with a stick shift.. The right amount of gas, the right speed to let the clutch out, etc.. To get that "perfect" launch, it takes some practice to figure out how to not slip the clutch too much... and not pop it.. and to not spin the tires too much.. and not bog it down.. etc, etc..

The program has parameters that it is "ok" with.. It's up to me to figure out what the limits of those parameters are and push them as much as I can (or want to) to have fun. I'd say Subaru's system is probably pretty much in-line with GM's system as far as intrusiveness goes..

Each manufacturer, though, seems to set the systems up differently, based on what they think their customers are going to "want."

Remember.. My Caddy is the PERFORMANCE SEDAN...not the regular Caddy that Grandma drives in the left lane at 50 with the left blinker on...

It's a totally different suspension setup...and parameters

:fingertime:

I had that RAV4 going back in a straight line and THEN the computer kicked in and sent it the other way... Freezing rain might've been a bit much for it

The one time I messed around in an Impreza, I don't think it had any stability management or traction control so I can't judge the Subie system...

I do know that they handle amazing

Yeah, I kinda wish ... No, there's no "kinda" to it.. I wish the Outbacks had the "fun" button that the STi's have, to adjust the fore/aft power distribution.

Every time I see the Subaru "G's" commercial with the guy sliding around on that wet asphalt under those bridges, I get irritated because I KNOW the system in mine wouldn't allow that level of fun to be had...

BUT, I doubt I'd ever want to push mine that hard in that way anyway.. So.. :dunno:

Glad you to the joke well.
