Hey Mike,

Thank you for the post. Very informative. I just wanted to ask you if you know how much the subie can tow. I mean you think it could tow a small trailer with two quads and a dirtbike on it?

Just wondering because it really looks like a great vehicle to go to from a truck. Reason is I am probably going to get married real soon and going to start a family.

I am going to pay off my truck and give it to my father. I am leaning very heavily towards getting a F150 FX4 with an ecoboost but I think a subaru would be a great all around vehicle. The only thing is my girlfriend wants a quad so we will probably get a trailer.

Thanks in advance.

I know the 2011 is rated to tow 2700 pounds.

Ivan, according to their website, the Ouback with the 3.6L engine has a towing capacity of 3k lbs.. I'm not sure how heavy the quads are, but it seems like it could be done. But, I've never towed anything with mine. So, I have no idea what the road manners would be like.. :dunno:

When you were talking in the other thread about where you like to go to shoot, I was kind of wondering if *I* would be able to get to those same places. I didn't want it to seem like I was starting to start any smack-talk, though, in that thread.

EDIT : Jim's #'s are right for the 4-banger. I was quoting the H6's #'s..

I think 2 quads and a dirtbike would be pushing the limits of the Subaru to the extreme.

Yeah... That was my initial thought, too. It'd depend on how much everything weighed and how it was loaded. I bet tongue weight would play a big factor, too..

A quad like the suzuki ltr 450 is something that my gf would get and it weighs 368 pounds without fuel.

the second quad would be a child's size quad

and my dirtbike weighs 218 pounds without fuel

what I don't know is how much a trailer big enough to fit all of them weighs.
