Hmm, I like it, keep me posted!
Thanks for the info! What is the real advantage to e-fans VS mechanical? (other than the 5% loss in power and economy)
I guess I just like mechanical since they're proven and "fail mode" is fully engaged. E-fans die and you loose cooling.
It does free up a minimal amount of horsepower. But the biggest advantage, and the main reason I want them is much better cooling at idle. The mechanical fan can only move so much air at idle speeds when the truck is sitting still. And in the brutal summer heat here, it get so hot that my AC even starts blowing warmer when I an at a stoplight. The electric fans would help my AC blow colder as well. And as far as losing cooling if the fans die, you still have that risk with a mechanical fan as well. If the fan clutch fails your engine will run hot. That happened to me on an older vehicle I had. Only it wasn't as obvious since every time I checked it, the clutch seemed to grab. I caught it one time not grabbing and I immediately replaced it and then my cooling was fine.

I guess we don't get nearly that hot here, but its still something to consider.
I thought the mechanical fans were designed to fail in the "engaged" position, but I could be wrong (and probably am).
I'll be interested to see how this works out!![]()

elec fans =mo powa and better fuel econ....Better cooling at idle...Ive got to do a elec fan set up on my f150 hopefully sometime this year

A properly operating mechanical fan / clutch setup is a very capable cooling system. It has been for decades.
Most of the perceived gains in power and fuel economy are in the head of the buyer. Dyno tests don't show much if any difference and I'd challenge anybody to show me where they got better gas mileage because of the electric fans. Maybe in the hundredths of a mile per gallon range. Maybe.
It's just so small of a difference that it amazes me how many will pay up the big prices to do it.

When did they switch to the eFans? Because I was very surprised at first at how loud the fans on my 2007 were. It really roars in a parking lot or at a stop light on a hot summer day.![]()
