Wut??? No Ridgeline peektures??? :(

:jester:
Actually, I don't think there was even one there!

I took a pic of all the diesel engine bays. I'll get those up for comparison.

Honestly, I don't know how the heck they get any work done to them. Seeing the Duramax and then seeing a 5.3L in the same engine bay is night and day difference.

Oh, one other thing about the diesels. It appears that Ford is putting another filler neck in the same door as the diesel fuel, Dodge might be going with 2 separate fillers (not sure; I only saw the one on the cab/chasis model), and Chevy is putting it under the hood on the passenger side by the firewall. All caps for urea are BLUE (just an FYI).

GM's 6.6L Duramax

Dodge's 6.7L Cummins

Ford's 6.7L Powerstroke

This was GM's dyno for measuring environmental impact (if I remember correctly). The engine was turning over (completely), but the "dynomometer" itself I think was an electric motor that was turning over the engine. #1 - it didn't startup like an engine does (it started like an electric motor does at a steady and constant pace). #2 - they would have needed to expel the exhaust gases (and they can't do that into an enclosed area). #3 - there were speakers inside the glass walls (I must say though, the did have a pretty good recording of the motor).

You betcha
I just got back from there. A little disappointing overall. Infinity was missing and my buddy was looking forward specifically to them. Dodge was a joke they didn't have any of their cars connected to external power to move seats. The 392 Hemi challenger looked cool, very clean engine bay.

Oh, I totally forgot about Infinity. GM had a lot of their cars powered up. I didn't move the seats and stuff anyways.

Crap, I missed the Challenger!

Sorry Gregg, Mini only had the S, the 4-dr, a regular 2-dr, and a 2-dr convertible there.

Thanks Matt. I just was not sure if the NAS (Detroit, DC, Chigago, Atlanta, Dallas, NYC) cars were going to be there. I spec'd 5 to 8 cars for each show.

...And what do you expect to pay for a car these days???

They do this every year. Good marketing for gear heads, and if that is a recording it definitely is a damn good one! One of my favorite parts of the show.

What kind of car? The Mini's were definitely overpriced for what you get. I liked the Subaru I saw better. You can actually fit 4 people in it. Both companies though are probably hard to get parts for = expensive. Parts availability is the only reason I don't think I'll ever own a Volkswagen.

I didn't really look at all that many price tags. Checked out a couple Kia's (probably be my dad's next car someday; they're cheap). The Rio and Forte caught our eyes. The Rio is definitely smaller, has a 1.6L with a 4spd auto for $17k. If you step up to the Forte, you get a 2.4L with a 6spd auto or manual for $20k (with an auto anyways). For the difference, you get WAY more bang for your buck with the Forte. I'd be interesting to test drive one someday.

I'd love to see a real engine dyno that vents to the outdoors at one of these. I'm actually surprised Ford didn't do one with their 3.5L EcoBoost after all the videos they've posted in their torture test.
