Gotcha. This seems such a daunting task, even after the motor is ready, then the trans has to be done, I'd like to do the transfer case, I need to do the gears, and I also need that 2 piece driveshaft.

Its been so much easier to buy the smaller things up until now, the drop parts, the colormatching, blah blah, everything else. It's been so easy. I feel like I'll never get this performance stuff done.

I'm also worried about that ls1 I got, the latest one. They both came from ben over on pt.net, I paid $550 for a shortblock aluminum ls1 from him several months ago, it needed a hone and new rings which he told me. Well I pull it apart and it has fudged bearings and a melted piston. So I lost that money.

This latest one is another aluminum ls1 longblock this time, "supposed" to have only 60,000 miles but so was the last one. This motor looks good, I had skeet come over and look it over with me. Everything we saw showed us a low mileage motor, and it turns easily with the crank bolt and still has good compression.

The main thing I'm worried about is he said "after it was at my house" that it has been sitting since 03. !!!!!!03!!!!???!?!?! I was like damn ben that's pretty important info there buddy, I probably shouldve known that before you brought it over!

Either way, when I get it running I'll just run the piss out of it to reseat the rings and change the oil frequently with mobil 1 for the first few miles. I already made it clear I disk want to buy another junker and he assured me he'd make it right if it was. I also thought $1300 was too much but there again who knows till it runs. Like i said everything we see about it tells us it's a strong motor.

I don't mean to jack this thread or anything, just basically voicing my concerns about this whole ordeal cause its on my mind a LOT.

Figured I'd update this since I'm bored out of my mind alone in the apartment.

No changes have been made since the last post, but with good air, this thing really picked up.

Best time at the same weight as previous times (13.822 @ 97.75):

60' - 1.828
1/8 - 8.419
MPH - 81.30
1/4 - 13.282
MPH - 99.96

And with some even better air, and about 100 lbs. removed (tailgate, bed liner, tonneau, some gas):

60' - 1.793
1/8 - 8.317
MPH - 82.00
1/4 - 13.163
MPH - 100.08

Yeah, you've seen all of these before, I just wanted to keep this thread up to date.

Gonna copycat some of your choices, Danno. Junior picked up a 2009 Marine LQ9 today.
