I found this Pertex muffler and tailpipe putty. It says:

Permanently repairs holes and leaks in exhaust systems. Seals out fumes at temperatures up to 2,000°F (1,000°C). Safe for catalytic converters.

You are missing a chunk of that choke stove.

I am not sure what that one controls on your truck, but you are not going to cure that with the magic putty you posted.

Anybody know what that stove controls? I didn't think the '84 had a choke control like that, mine was electric.

It't for your carb, then. You will need it for choke control.
