Looking good, sucks the dash cracked though
Lookin' good!
I don't know about your tranny gearing, but my truck 3.42's turns 2k @ 70mph if I remember right.
Truck never had a clear coat. Solid colors back then were single stage. That's why they can be brought back to life long after other paints are dead.I like the newer wheels on the old trucks. But since this one is so original, Im gonna leave it as such. It is tempting to find a set of those though. If the truck was 4x4 I'd make it look just like that one you quoted.
There is no clear coat on this truck anymore lol.
That red you see on the buffing pads is red from the paint. All I did was take all the oxidation off and then seal it with wax, to make it look like new. It certainly looks good and it will last if I keep wax on it.![]()

Looks great!
Red comes back nicely but it needs waxing OFTEN to stay. Looks like you got a great shine out of it.Wow! Cool info dude!
Then my truck should be under 2k (we've got the same trans.). I don't remember now....it's been so long since I've driven itLookin' good!

Thanks!
My '01 has 3:73s and it turns 2000 at 70.
But this 85 has a 400 trans, which is 3 speed no overdrive. So at 65 I'm running 3000 rpm. The 3.42 would get me down to 2500 rpm, and at a much cheaper cost than swapping in a 4l80e (the equivalent to the old 400). I'd also need a stand alone controller and that a grand.
That would be so cool. Too bad its so far away!sup Nick...was looking on CL a couple of days ago and found this...for $500 you could drop your bed & cab on this frame and have a 4x4...
p.s. a little far away though![]()
about 35 miles from me
