Oh there's no question. It is worth it.

No such thing as a custom truck without vanity personalized plates.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
 In Iowa it is $50 one time fee, and an extra $5 per year after that.

I like it though!

I can't remember if we paid an upfront fee for our vanity plates, but they are only $12.95 to renew after that.

Yeah I should have said that's for either a custom number on a standard plate, or any of the special plates (university, DNR, teacher). And if you want a custom number on a special plate, it's $100 up front and $10 per year.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'll look into what it takes here today.

Is this what we're going with? :dunno:

BTW, **** you guys for having a MUCH cooler looking plate. :pfingers:

They want 250 for the plate for five years... plus you still have to pay annual registration. A bit steep, but I think I might go for it.

Are they on crack? Or is it just that Virginia has really cheap plates? We also have a helluva lot of different designs, with more coming out each month. If you can get 350 people in a group to buy 'em you can get personalized plates for the entire group with your own artwork and logo on them.

In VA it's $10 per year for a vanity plate, that's it. You can even get permanent plates here (no annual registration). I did that with my trailer. Cost me $78 for the registration and $10 for the custom plate, and I never have to renew the registration or pay anything else on it.

And amateur radio plates are a whopping $1.00 :)

Yeah. No state income tax in Texas means fees for e everything else are high (that and we have to feed, house, and provide welfare and medical for half of the illegal alien population of the US)

They get their money one way or another.

These plates that we're looking at aren't actually produced by the State of Texas, myplates.com is in a partnership with the state. Much like any other state contractor, they have to make their money. So they get their piece, Texas gets a cut and we get to pick these cool ass plates. The plates from the Texas Dept. of Transportation are much more limited in the choices you have.

If you go to one of myplates.com's offices you can walk out with your personalized plate in a matter of minutes.

Long ago we had Fred and Wilma (Flintstones thing) They were a 2001 Nissan Altima and a 2001 Silverado. The nickname just stuck for my truck.

I'm ordering a custom plate for Fred. I think this is going to be it. I hate the standard Texas plates.

Opinions?
