I'm NEW... What now?
If I don't have one of these oil monitoring things could I get one and would it be a pain to install? Just curious, I don't think I need one.
ive ran 5w20 RP full syn in my truck from since i brought it home... with a K&N filter... i usually run it to 10k.. depending on how much i tow.. and how hard i drive...when i was in the hospital my g/f drove my truck for like a month.. and it had 15k on it befew i could change it.. didnt even really think about it... then when i realized it .. i put a new K&N filter on.. and refilled... drove it for 2 days then changed back with RP and K&N.... and that oil still looked and felt ..hell it even tasted good

Not that I'm aware of. They are specific to each manufacture. GM has theirs and call it the OLM Oil Life Monitor, Ford has one IOLM, Intelligent oil life monitor, Toyota has one but it only has a light that comes on that states to service is required. Ford has it as well. At least my mother-in-laws 95 Lincoln Mark VIII had it.
I bought a case of it last summer and used it. It seemed to be fine. I guess I can't say I noticed any more or any less ticking or anything

It's good oil, but I'm glad you get it for a discount. If I was going to pay that kind of money for oil, I'd choose Amsoil.

this thread should be about oils, comparing your walmart full synthetics (valvoline/mobil1) and then amsoil/RP.
ive never seen amsoil or heard anything about it, but i just in my truck run valvoline/mobil 1 full synthetic. not sure if the RP or amsoil is worth the extra money

I will only run Amsoil. My old 1st truck I ran RP and noticed I always had crappy mileage after 1500 miles after the oil change. It always appeared burned and smelt it as well. Decided to pop the covers and it was very sludgy in there. Sludge went away with a flush, but came right back as well.
Amsoil on my current truck never once has it looked burned. Looks like new with every change. Even when Nelson Performance did my cam. They didnt believe my motor was 150k old. I kick my self every day for not getting any pictures.
