Nope, just rain. I watched the images of this system, and it is being pushed from your area, damn this is a lot of rain for all of us on the west coast!

Hope it doesn't interfere with your progress. Keep us posted

Will do  At least I can go get some new nuts & lockwashers.I already have some Loctite.

BTW,noticed the pads on the bad diff are almost gone, but the ones on the new one are almost new,I'll be using those with the rotors from the old diff. Also the E-brake cable that broke on the old one is in good shape on the new one so that's a good thing

This happened last thursday evening while wifey, daughter and her kids were gonna get a bite to eat. They just got thru a major intersection here in town when they heard a loud bang and the diff. locked up.There was enough momentum to get into the driveway going to Lowe's.We called AAA and they sent a wrecker with a hook out....need a flatbed cuz the rear wheels don't rotate. They said none available...so we're stuck(I'm there by now).We called a neighbor who works for a towing co. and was working that nite.So,$67.00 later the Expedition was sitting in front of a friends house(no room at my place, remember I live in a mobile home park). So today we rent a trailer from U-Haul,go get the damn thing, get it up on the trailer, get a good look at the diff.,here is what I see....

Keep in mind I'm feeling like shit(last thur. after work) and all I wanna do is get home and go to bed.Feeling much better today

I've talked to a mechanic who works for one of the biggest tire sales & repair shops(we deliver parts to them) here and he'll do the work,I'll order the parts tomorrow from my boss.

The nice thing is it's AWD,so it'll move under it's own power, lucky for us :jester:

Dang, glad everyone was ok

It is a start.

I know it is hind site but ya should have sprayed everything down with BP Blaster. :)

That's what I said when the bolts wouldn't come loose. But I made sure to spray 'em last nite before coming home.

There was some kind of blue thread lock stuff on the bolt threads on the ones we did manage to get off.Why not just use lock washers? or is that not the way it's done today?

Lock washers could easily loosen in that particular application. You've got a lot of vibration there, as well as rotational forces as the swing arm moves up and down. Using the thread lock liquid makes sure it can't vibrate loose.

Well there's your problem right there... using tools that weren't big enough for the job. Now a six foot cheater would have taken that off quick. :D2
