Crawled under and stuck a washer in the the shock mounts and re tightened them. They have been rattling a bit. Then I put the spare back in the correct spot and got it out of the bed.

Put more air in the tires... :frustration:

Went to 4 Wheel Parts and picked up a 2' x 20' - 20,000 lb tow strap, and a 2" receiver hook

2 foot by 20 foot, or was that a typo? I think you meant 2" (inch) but then I've never heard of a 2" wide strap being rated for 10 tons. Generally you won't find anything with that high a rating until you get to 4" or bigger.

Or is that 20klbs breaking strength? (Breaking strength is generally 5x higher than Safe Working Load rating)

Good Call.... yes 2" x 20'

This is the actual one I bought.. Tow Strap

I would assume that is 20k lbs breaking strength

I'm not seeing any indication one way or the other, but there's no way I would believe a 2" strap with a 20k SWL, so I'll go with that being the breaking strength. Even that sounds a bit optimistic to me though, so I'd err on the side of caution and consider it about a 4k strap.

Yeah.. I don't see my self using it much... just wanted something incase I need it. A lot of the reviews on the strap say its worked well for them...

So, your saying its a 4k strap... So your thinking that is not enough, since a full size truck is what.. 6k :dunno:

If it is 20k max it would be okay to use... I guess I don't have a whole lot of knowledge when it comes to buying straps..

SWL is 20% of the breaking strength. If the breaking strength is 20,000 then the Safe Working Load is only 4,000. That doesn't mean it's going to fail at 4,001, or even at 19,000, it just means that the higher the load beyond 4,000 the less safe the strap is, up to the failure point.

Your average truck curb weight (weight of vehicle with normal amount of fuel, passengers, etc.) is going to be around 5-6 thousand, but you're not going to be trying to lift that weight off the ground, just get it moving, so you'll probably stay below the SWL. But, and this is a big but, keep in mind that "yanking" or getting a running start can easily exceed that 4,000lbs, and probably get up over 3x that.

Good Advice

I guess I didn't really think about the weight of truck as in lifting vs rolling resistance.

Did nothing to my truck but I did put a new sub in my wifes car. She been running two Kicker CVR 12's for the last year or so but has been complaining lately that it was too loud. So...now she has an Alpine Type S 10". :dunno:

Put in an order to LMC Truck for a few things that I couldn't find anywhere else. Maybe now I'll actually get catalogs without requesting them :dunno:.
