Put more air in the tires... :frustration:

Went to 4 Wheel Parts and picked up a 2' x 20' - 20,000 lb tow strap, and a 2" receiver hook

2 foot by 20 foot, or was that a typo? I think you meant 2" (inch) but then I've never heard of a 2" wide strap being rated for 10 tons. Generally you won't find anything with that high a rating until you get to 4" or bigger.

Or is that 20klbs breaking strength? (Breaking strength is generally 5x higher than Safe Working Load rating)

Moved it so my mom could get her car out. Talked to someone interested in buying it.

Are you interested in selling?

I am, he got the idea because he heard me say I was looking at getting something else. Thinking a 4Runner or new Grand Cherokee. Want something a little smaller but with a transfer case.

Gotcha, looking at the new 4Runners?

Yeah, either will be new. Both nice, leaning more to the GC at this point though because it's local and a good dealer (bought 7 cars from the same salesmen between me, my parents, and my brother). The nearest Toyota lot is 70 miles away. Also a big turn off that the 4Runners radio is unreadable if the sun is up.

I woulD make the trip before I bought a GC, just in case. :dunno:

Good Call.... yes 2" x 20'

This is the actual one I bought.. Tow Strap

I would assume that is 20k lbs breaking strength

I've looked at both and researched to no end. Also drove both back to back pretty thoroughly the week of Thanksgiving. Both drove really good, just different. 4Runner had a sunroof and a real, lever operated, two-speed transfer case (huge plus) but lacked a lot of common luxuries like automatic lights, leather steering wheel, blink three times when you tapped the turn signal, remote start, and the engine was noticeably rougher and the interior seemed really cheap. The GC was silent, felt very solid, had a legible radio display despite the sun being up, and did think the Selec-terrain (mud, snow, etc. settings that altered the shift points, throttle response, and torque split) was cool. The lack of a sunroof and 2Hi setting is a turn off though.

I'm not seeing any indication one way or the other, but there's no way I would believe a 2" strap with a 20k SWL, so I'll go with that being the breaking strength. Even that sounds a bit optimistic to me though, so I'd err on the side of caution and consider it about a 4k strap.
