I don't remember the actual numbers but yes, for a big block the HP numbers were pretty weak.

The early 90s were just the beginning of the horsepower races. The 70s and 80s sapped every bit of power from the engines to comply with emissions testing... Anybody remember the 160 horsepower V8s from Ford and GM? By 1990, new and better fuel injection systems were coming along and manufacturers started thinking performance again. The 454SS ans Lightning were just early versions.

Yeah 230 hp, pretty lame. The one to have is the '92 with the overdrive trans. But pretty cool because they were kinda the first sport truck from a manufacturer.

Nope, but always wanted one. Even went as far as looking into buying one that was about 2 years old back in the day. I just regretfully didn't pull the trigger on the purchase...
