Over-the-rail drop-in bedliners -Because the bedsides aren't as important as the bed?

I have no issues with drop-in liners, but the over the rail ones? Horrible idea. Now I need to do more body work. I hate you, guy who had the truck before me.

I'm going to the track tomorrow, and decided to pull off the tailgate, tonneau, and the bedliner just to see how the weight reduction helps. This is the first time the liner has been out since I've had the truck for almost 4 years.

Eeeww...

Not too much rust in the bed itself, better than I was expecting.

Up by the cab:

Basically, the point of this useless thread is to say, whatever you do, don't get an over-the-rail drop-in bedliner. Repairing bedsides is much more difficult and expensive than the bed itself. :frustration:

Yeah that's one reason I never got one myself, sucks to see you will have to do body work to correct it too.

Doug, I don't need more projects with this damn truck.

Yeah I don't give two shits about the small amount of rust in the bed, that's easy to fix with a wire wheel and some paint, but the bedsides is what pisses me off.

....sorry dan...couldnt help it!.....we got a bed liner like that in my papaws truck..but we just use it around the farm so it dont matter that much..but yea...the bedsides are one of the hardest places to do body work..getting the curves just right if you have to use filler is a chore...i got faith in ya though...you'll get it done right!

Yeah I guess it's a chance to get my feet wet with some bodywork.

I trust myself to do everything up to paint. That, I'll leave to the pros.

Cleaned up pretty good, Danno! If you want some info on that stuff I sprayed in the F150, let me know.
